It’s a very cool pop approach to a love song highlighting the concept of a Long Distance Relationship and is also extremely relatable. It’s composed by M Ajay Vaas and would be my first collaboration track this year. I instantly fell in love with the lyrics and the music when I heard it for the first time and can’t wait for everyone to finally hear it. This would be my second release this year and no better time to release than February which is the month of celebrating love! It also stars the extremely talented Awez and Nagma and their chemistry pops another flavor to the track and definitely takes the video to the next level. I’m absolutely hooked to the chorus lines and I hope everybody feels the same way! Bindis and Bangles is an ode to the traditions of the past and the technologies of the future, all while shining a spotlight on India’s rich and unique culture. With this track, Kumari delicately drives home an apropos message of how God is omnipresent; and spiritual realization in modern times isn’t a fallacy and can be attained without the trappings of technology.
The intrepid and empowering video directed by The Fictionary, with its’ striking imagery, was created and curated by an all-female team in collaboration with the New York-based cyberpunk-artist Sam Madhu, who also directed visuals for “Karma” from Kumari’s 2019 EP, BLOODLINE. With retro-futurism at its core, the video comes to life with fictional characters from the ancient Indian world such as palanquin bearers, dancers and sages who are equipped with tools of the future, such as virtual reality and holograms. In the video, Kumari is portrayed as an ethereal apparition who glitches into reality and is perceived as a Goddess from another dimension. As they worship her, they in turn relinquish technology and awaken their own third eyes– visually represented in the form of complex digital interfaces.
Reflecting on the track, Kumari states, “Bindis and Bangles is my most ambitious project, working with an all-female team was empowering and inspiring. The Bindi for me is the third eye, and the visual encourages all to keep their third eye open. I’m so excited to share this song with all my fans.”
Produced by Zero, who is of American origin, the track is co-written by India’s premier hip-hop star and Kumari’s long standing co-collaborator, DIVINE, and packs a passionate and powerful punch, loaded with robust rhymes and ferocious delivery over a nuanced beat with international reverberations. Armed with a compelling groove and spirited lyrics, the track sets the perfect exemplar of a vision of India’s future – inspired by its’ past.
With a maiden headlining North American tour and the release of her documentary "Raja Kumari: So Far" which spotlighted the importance of embracing one’s uniqueness by narrating her resilient story of empowerment as a woman of colour, 2019 marked many firsts for Kumari. She became the first Indian artist to host the American Music Awards Red Carpet and to perform at Formula One (F1) Singapore Grand Prix. With an album and tour in the works, we’ll hear more from the MTV Hustle judge in the near future. Stay tuned!

Louis Tomlinson returns with a brand new song 'Walls'. Louis says: "It’s about coming home having been on tour, soon after the band had split. I found some of my girlfriend’s clothes in the cupboard and it hit me what I’d done. I love the indie sound of the song and its circular nature – it opens and closes with the same lyric.”
That lyric – ‘Nothing wakes you up like waking up alone’ – shows Louis’ progression as a songwriter ready to reveal his vulnerable side. ‘The day you walked away was the day I became the man that I am now,’ is another. “I pretend not to be romantic, but I am,” says Louis. “It really hit home when I was in the studio to hear the strings being recorded. There must have been 25 musicians in there, all for my song. It was a proper tearjerking moment already and I’ve never felt a shiver like it.”
'Walls' is taken from Louis's highly anticipated debut solo album also entitled 'Walls', released January 31st 2020.
Lyrically, he’s rightly proud of all twelve tracks on the album, most rooted in real life, but in particular those that dig deep on subjects ranging from relationships and family to the folly of youth and days of self-doubt. Live, he’s most looking forward to performing the songs that reflect the indierock he grew up on and still adores today.
“I feel like this is the start of my career, with so much to look forward to and all the plans in place,” says Louis. “Honestly, I’ve been through every emotion possible in the past few years and come out the other side stronger and more confident than I’ve ever been. I know I’ve made an album that my fans will like, one that sounds like me and has its own identity. There were times I wasn’t sure if this was what I should be doing. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
2019 was the year that Louis found his feet as a solo artist. He followed his award-winning return in March with Two of Us, which took the tragic loss of his mother as a touchstone and connected with fans around the world, with a run of acclaimed singles - the raucous Kill My Mind, the reflective We Made It and the soaring pop perfection of Don’t Let It Break Your Heart. 2020 is the year that Louis goes live with a 50 date World Tour, his first as a solo artist, with many dates already sold out including all the UK shows. From early March until late July, he’ll be on tour near nightly, crossing countries and continents . Earlier this year Louis headlined the Coca-Cola music festival in Madrid to an audience of 25,000 people, and recently performed to 65,000 fans at Premios Telehit in the Foro Sol stadium in Mexico City.
He also picked up the Best Song Award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards for his recent single 'Two Of Us', which has so far hit 40 million streams on Spotify, with YouTube views at 23 million. In 2018 Louis won an iHeart Award for 'Best Solo Breakout', and an EMA Award for 'Best UK & Ireland Act' in 2017. He was ranked No.5 on Billboard’s emerging artists of 2018 and has over 60 million combined followers on social media.
As a member of One Direction, Louis has sold over 100 million records. Overall Louis’s solo music has garnered over a BILLION streams.

Are you superstitious?
Not really but I am a deep thinker ,therefore I am obliged to think!
Someone who left a lasting impression?
A Friend and a Foe
The Best Gift I ever got?
If you were to change your name?
It would start with the letter "A"
You’re the PM of India. What’s the first thing you’d do?
Put the women right's in order!
My biggest fear?
End of the world
What makes you tick?
Happiness and a Smile
My unfulfilled dream:
To travel to the Himalayas!
Craziest thing ever done?
I bent over the frying pan to pick up the glass that I left near the window pane, not knowing I left the gas on and set my shirt on fire! And that really wasn't a joke!Saved by God's mercy!

The Mallroad Project – Hindi Indie Rock Band holds musical soiree on different themes which is relevant to today’s youth. It has its roots in Delhi circuits, blending in tradition, musicianship, and imagination.
The band is now releasing its new single ‘Kaafila’ on 14th December. The song is about a sense of belonging with the people we travel this journey of life with and how they give us a sense of purpose.
"Kaafila" - a Hindi word derived from Arabic, means a caravan, a procession or a collectivity in travel - is a reflection of our lives. An expedition we all start alone towards the destination and as we move, we come across new people in life and a new story begins with each one of them, the kaafila keeps on growing. Often in our lives, we forget to appreciate this kaafila we have, the song is to remind us of how important these people are to us.
We are born alone, we die alone. Between this birth and death, we live alone. Life is so much better when we create the illusion for a moment that we're not alone. In this journey, we come across people concerning family, friends and our loved ones. Our hopes and dreams soon begin to associate with the group of people (Kaafila) that we consider important in our life. We stay together, move together and share our joys and sorrows while we travel together in this journey of life.
The song is set to release on 14th December. The song will be available on the band’s YouTube channel as well as on all other platforms like Gaana, OkListen and Apple Music.
You can listen the song here: Kaafila - Google Drive
Past songs & releases
The band had lately been consciously talking about critical issues that plague society. Their last release,Thurky Boss, was inspired by the #MeToo movement and candidly addressed the harassment faced by women in their daily routine. Prior to this, they released Dehshatgard- voice against terrorism – a song that addressed the social unrest in India. They also, had released a satirical political song, Who is the real Pappu? that asked people to be careful about believing blindingly in what they were told by netas. Through songs such as these, the band has presented their strong opinions on social issues.
“Through our music, we want to contribute to a progressive future and an equal society”.
The band released their first EP Naazi in 2017. The main theme of the EP revolves around exploring the various nuances and emotions of a modern-day romance. The sound ranges from soft soothing melodies to some groovy rock and roll. The EP consists of the titular song Naazi, Nasha, Dil Kyun Khamosh Hai, and one of their most popular songs Tu Kahan.
Their second EP Behti Hawa is an experimental live set performed by the band to capture the raw energy of an in-studio live set-up. Released in September 2018, the EP has a beautiful hard-rock interpretation of A.R. Rahman’s Dil Se apart from the other song Behti Hawa, Tere Khayalon Mein and the captivating Saasein.
One of their songs, Pareshaan gets you thinking as it talks about how we forget to appreciate our lives and get stuck on the darker side of everyday lives.
After attracting thousands of citizens in the jungle to clear plastic and making Indian forests clean, and removing 8000 tons of garbage from the forests which is equivalent to 800 truckloads of it, filmmaker Sarthi Gupta now came up with “Noor’, a music video regarding “Kashmir Ghar Vapsi,” released by T-Series. More than 500 Kashmiris and Himachalis have been associated with the video.
Sarthi Gupta is well-known for working towards the betterment of society. After holding a world record in Swacch Bharat Mission and making Mumbai citizen clean 85 hectares of forests, setting the alarm for the world environment, getting applauded by the United Nations, featuring in Limca Book of Records 2019 and appreciated by the Government of India, this talented director has come the long way. He has added another feather to his hat by presenting “Noor,” a music video that highlights the plight of Kashmiri Pandits to set the message across to the world, that no matter which religion a citizen of India belongs to, being Indian comes first.
After scrapping article 370, there is a new hope that the Kashmiri Pandits will be relocated and the injustice will be brought to an end. The Kashmiri Pandits who were driven away will be brought back and allowed to remain fearless and secure. Thus, this video may play a pivotal role in highlighting the condition of Kashmiri Pandits.
Director Sarthi Gupta said, “Lead main singer Ahmed Shaad Safwi and many Muslims from the film fraternity have dedicatedly worked towards making this video possible. More than 500 Kashmiris and Himachalis have been associated and will be seen in the film as well. “We stand with Kashmir and are united for Kashmir,” will be the takeaway from this video. I thank -Series for collaborating and all communities who made this project possible and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.”
He added, “The day when Indians were homeless within our homeland, the day when even the moon got blood clots, the day when no human rights existed, the day when Indians on their own land were living like exile — such a day is even more pathetic than 200 years of British rule. Such was the night of January 21, 1990, in Jammu & Kashmir. Hence, this video can be an eye-opener.”
Gupta appealed people to share the video shot in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and New Delhi.

Over the last few years, he has delivered some of the biggest hit tracks and the 500 million streams are a testament to his ever increasing fan following.” He says.

Mass Appeal India, the hip-hop label that brought you DIVINE’S “Kohinoor” is all set to rekindle the spirit of patriotism this Republic Day, as it presents its latest song, ‘Bhartiya Rail’ by the hip-hop duo MassQline & Jatin.
Bhartiya Rail is a hindi rap song that sheds light on the unity within our diverse country – India, through the railways. Conceptualised and written by MassQline & Jatin, the pulsating song is written on a metronome and stitched together with a simple desi Indian melody created with a mandolin, lending an authentic vibe to the song.
The duo known for making music on every-day relatable stories and emotions, bring you an alternative hip-hop song which personifies country’s unity and diversity through Indian Railways. This track is built on the thought of co-existence of different cultural moralities within India and the unity within the country, similar, to the way different classes of coaches exist and are unified through an Indian train. This alchemy is fun and full of energy with use of creative dialectic causing the churning of thoughts, emotions, philosophies and most importantly stitching it all together with hip-hop and rap.
Talking about their debut song, MassQline & Jatin, said, “We’re really excited to be part of the Mass Appeal India family and being associated with Mass Appeal and Nas is overwhelming. Hip Hop from Jaipur has come on a major label for the first time! Jatin added, I have found train journeys symbolic of people from all walks of life coming together and always wanted to create a song reflecting this. I feel a train journey in India can give one a glance of the entire country in a few hours – it is like a collection of short stories, every corner you see has a tale to tell – some amusing, others painful but each full of the common emotions however different the characters maybe from one another.” MassQline further added, “I have always been fascinated by India’s fabric of unity despite all possible diversities – linguistic, cultural, communal, geographical etc. As MassQline & Jatin , we’re excited about being able to project this in our song – Bhartiya Rail.”
Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director & CEO, Universal Music Group, India and South Asia, said, “It gives me immense pride to be dropping our second Mass Appeal India release on the country’s 71st Republic Day, this 26th January, with the debut of MassQline & Jatin’s “Bhartiya Rail,” which fuses Hip Hop and rock, two of my all-time favourite genres. The song has an extremely strong insight in conjunction with the Indian railways and I strongly believe every Indian will relate to at least one of the several emotions expressed in the song. 23 year-old MassQline lends his rap skills to the song, while Jatin adds the flavour of rock and through his guitar skills. Go listen to Bhartiya Rail across streaming platforms on 26th January and watch out for the video on 27th Jan!”
Peter Bittenbender, CEO of Mass Appeal, said, "We’re really excited to launch MassQline & Jatin on Mass Appeal India with their debut Hip Hop song, “Bhartiya Rail,” on India’s Republic Day. The song is all about unity through the Indian railways and ties in perfectly to India celebrating its 71st Republic Day this year. We’re all set to begin the new year on this note and have some amazing artists coming up this year.”
The hip-hop duo MASSQLINE & JATIN are popular for fusing elements of hip hop, rap and rock in their music where, MASSQLINE contributes to the rap and flow in their music, while JATIN brings out the rock element.

In June last year, the duo – Ashutosh Rai aka Warboy and Devam Pandey aka DEVM – went up against finalists from nine other cities across the country at the national final in Mumbai, before being selected as the winners by a jury consisting of rap groups Seedhe Maut, Swadesi and Dopeadelicz.
“It was really fun to see all the new rappers and what they can do not just with the mic, but with the crowd, too. You don’t get to see that often. Warboy and his producer really had a great chemistry going on stage. Warboy’s delivery was really impactful the energy they brought on stage was unique. Loved that,“ said Seedhe Maut, of the duo’s performance at the national final.
As a result, they were given the opportunity to record their full-length album at a professional studio – working with Bixtel, a young producer from the US – a music video and a short documentary on their journey, produced by Red Bull Media House.
Says Warboy, “It has been a great experience overall and I’m happy with the way the album turned out. Working with Bixtel was a good experience. There were language barriers, but we managed to overcome them – we wrote down the lyrics of the songs, translated them to English and then explained the emotion behind the songs to him. I’m happy with the way the album has turned out and it has been a good experience overall. In 2020 I’m hoping to do a lot more work – I have been experimenting with new things, trying to work on my existing skills and learn new things as well.”

A year on from release in solely physical CD format, Trikala by Simon Thacker's Svara-Kanti, the epic double album that set a new benchmark for intercultural collaboration, will finally be released on all major streaming platforms worldwide recently.
Universally acclaimed since its initial release, a winner of a Scottish New Music Award and described as "a class apart from anything one has listened to in very many decades” (World Music Report, Canada), Trikala is a complete and multi-layered statement by a Scottish composer and guitar virtuoso with a miraculously innate connection to the subcontinent. Major European world music magazine Songlines summed it up: “One wonders whether in a past life Simon Thacker was a Bengali itinerant Baul mystic musician or perhaps a South Indian master of the mridangam. Such is his grasp of the techniques and spirit of India’s disparate musical styles.”
Trikala sees the metamorphosis of Simon Thacker’s Svara-Kanti into a community of four different lineups (thirteen outstanding performers in all). These authentic and expansive musical laboratories each take inspiration from four aspects of the vast musical macrocosm that exists on the Indian subcontinent: Hindustani classical (north), Carnatic classical (south), Punjabi folk (west) and the Bengali mystical folk Baul tradition of both India and Bangladesh (east). Trikala also contains Nirjanavana, a stunning digital delay driven solo guitar tour de force with a Tamil inspiration that beguiled audiences on Simon’s recent solo tour of India. Finally, Simon dramatically reimagines Rabindranath Tagore’s iconic Ekla Chalo re and movingly transforms India’s “National Song”.
Trikala features ancient forms propelled forward to create a new musical future, as well as original creations that travel beyond East and West to genuinely create a third direction of itself. Hyper composition and instinctive improvisation are allied to a near-supernatural understanding between kindred spirits. With over 2 hours and 18 minutes of some of the most advanced intercultural music ever recorded, Trikala’s long-awaited worldwide streaming release brings a pivotal moment in the history of Indo-Western collaboration to the widest possible audience.
Those of you who have been around from the 1960's through the 1990's will remember the vibrant live music scene in almost every starred hotel in India. Those were the days when you walked into a nightclub like 'Rendezvous' at The Taj Mahal hotel and 'Supper Club' at the Oberoi Sheraton in Mumbai to see curtains going up on a band that was the prime focus of these outlets. Every seat in these restaurants allowed an unobstructed view of the band that performed every night on resident contracts. Today all this has disappeared thanks to some ridiculously high entertainment taxes on live music. Today, non off these hotels have complete bands playing save for a few that feature small duos or solo singers. The Lodhi in New Delhi, recently listed among the world's best hotels, decided to step in and rewind to the good old days. They got Goa's premier jazz quartet 'Jazz Junction' to move to Delhi on a resident contract and the decision has paid off in terms of footfalls generated by the band. Jazz Junction featuring singer Daniella Rodrigues, pianist Tony Dias,
bassist Colin D'Cruz and drummer Angelo Colasco began playing at The Lodhi in June 2018. Four months into the contract the band generated a sizeable following, with quite a few high profile guests choosing to celebrate their special occasion at the Elan bar where the band performs. Against all odds the rewind option proved to be a huge success and hopefully other properties around the country takes the cue to trigger a whole new revival of live music.
