Clinton Cerejo composed and sung an upbeat song, Aukaat along with Mr Amitabh Bachchan for the upcoming film, Badla. Aukaat is a high octane track in which Mr Bachchan is seen rapping along with Clinton Cerejo, Jizzy and Amit Mishra. The track has garnered immense appreciation and has been trending across various platforms.
Talking about his experience, Clinton Cerejo shares “ Aukaat is incorporated according to the theme of the film suggesting mystery and machismo and it's a privilege to have Mr Bachchan himself render the vocals on this track who delivered it with so much ease that he totally owns the song. Two amazing writers - Siddhant Kaushal and Jizzy helped me create the frenzy ending that the song has. Amit Mishra to joins in on the higher octave in the chorus & it sketches the essence of an edge-of-your-seat thriller.”
He further adds “It has been a beautiful experience working on this song and an honour to work with Mr Bachchan so closely. I have often heard that Mr Bachchan is a thorough professional but working with him, made me realize the intensity of this statement. He was particular about getting it perfect and even in this brief encounter with him I have personally learnt a great deal.”
Sharing a laugh Mr Bachchan says “I am humbled with all the love and appreciation the track has been receiving. This is my 3rd track with Clinton and it’s always fun recording with him. Initially, it seemed challenging but once we started, it became a lot more fun. Not to mention, Amit and Jizzy were also truly supportive throughout. I would like to jam with all them more often.”
The song which released last week is the promotional track of the film Badla which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. The film has been directed by Sujoy Ghosh and releases in cinemas on 8th March 2019. Mr Bachchan has sung on Clinton’s composition earlier Kyo Re from the movie TE3N and Ekla Cholo Re from Kahani.

“It's a magical feeling when words appear from nowhere and the music starts flowing with them. It's this magical feeling that made me write & compose the song 'Play me a song' - Milind Chitnavis of the band Music UnLtd. had to say about his latest release which is currently being aired across all mediums TV, Radio, Digital, etc…
The process of composing always has emotions lurking in the background - whether happy or sad. Good songs can't be written with no emotion - emotions are what give colour & life to the songs. The process of writing & composing was broken into several sessions, because I was simultaneously writing or finishing other songs. Finally, when I decided that the lyrics were complete and the music flowed naturally, I went into its production.
The regular band members Stephen Veigas [Synth], Akshat Shinde [Drums], Govind Gawli/Kunal Kambli [Bass], Kevin Chetti [Guitar] play gigs with me, but due to their other jobs have little time for Album recordings or Music video shoots. So I chose freelance musicians whom I've had the pleasure of working with before, and who contributed invaluably to the songs - Krunal Shah (Synth), Karl Peters (Bass), Yadhunandan Nagaraj (Drums), Omkar Dhumal (Flute), Vivienne Pocha (Female voice).
My songs are normally based on reality - positive or negative. I leave the lovey-dovey and mushy stuff to Bollywood and US pop acts. I gravitate naturally towards edgy topics which are far more interesting. For example, 'And then I saw her' the title song of the EP by the same name, deals with polygamy; and ‘Baahon mein baahein’ (English title - ‘Suspicious stares’) from the EP ‘Humnasheena’ deals with infidelity …both very common amongst people, but who obviously can’t admit it publicly.
In a country swamped by the money power of film music - and also habituated to listening to only 'covers' in gigs - we hope to see more & more people attending gigs of original independent artists & bands, and buying their music.”
Music UnLtd.has released songs in both English & Hindi, so as not to limit the audience to a single language group. 'Play me a song' is also being released in Hindi in a few days, and is titled ‘Chhedo Koi Geet’.

Indie Music Label, the record company best known for its association with talented musicians and artists such as Darshan Raval, Akki Singh, Dev Negi, Antara Mitra, Ash King, AMiT Mishra, and Nakash Aziz has just announced its admission into PPL India. This landmark agreement, which allows PPL to collect public performance and radio broadcast licensing royalties on behalf of the reputed label, will also allow license holders to play popular tracks like ‘Bhula Diya’ and ‘Aye Zindagi’ in public.
Indie music is often seen as the last bastion of true ingenuity and innovation in an industry otherwise dominated by Bollywood item numbers and synchronised dancing. In this regard, artists like Darshan Raval, and Dev Negi have defied the odds to create huge fan followings based solely on the quality of their music. The induction of Indie Music Label into PPL will go a long way in helping these young pioneers monetise their works, thereby increasing their revenues substantially, given the popularity of many of their tracks.
PPL India is the country’s largest public performance rights organisation representing the interests of 300+ music labels with more than 1.5 million international and 0.8 million domestic songs in their repertoire. The signing on of Indie Music Label as its latest member, will further expand the company’s foothold into the alternative and art music scene.
Commenting on the momentous new deal, Naushad Khan, Managing Director, Indie Music Label reportedly said “PPL India has come a long way with regard to transparency and efficiency. We’re certain that this partnership will go a long way in helping us monetise our public performance and music licensing rights. The additional revenue we receive will help us phenomenally in producing more great songs that people can enjoy.”
Returning the praise, Mr. Hari Nair, Chief Digital Officer of PPL India said “Indie songs and artists are the heart and soul of the music industry and many legendary performers started out as independent musicians. We’re privileged to be associated with a label as radical as Indie Music Label and we’re certain that the additional revenue we help them generate will go a long way in helping them in their mission of bringing independent artists into the mainstream.”

Bacardí House Party Sessions (BHPS) is on a roll with the launch of the second track under the BHPS banner, “Hold Tight” by electronica act, Ape Echoes, mentored by bass phenomenon Mohini Dey. Alternately shuffling through territories influenced by crossover-jazz, electronica, alt-rock, funk, and soul, Ape Echoes forms a sonically and emotionally varied palette that makes it impossible to sit still. Their unique sound comes across even more vividly in the music video starring the music scene’s latest sensation, the multi-hued Jim Sarbh.
“Hold Tight” follows Jim Sarbh as a slothful character who wrestles between his desire to indulge in leisurely activities and his practical need to be productive contributor to society. He stumbles upon an advert of a cloning machine, and uses it to unleash multiple clones to fulfil his diverse responsibilities. The clones change his life, completing chores and routine tasks that he couldn’t bring his original self to do. The video ends full circle with Jim’s clones mirroring his original conflicted personality.
Speaking on her role as a mentor to Ape Echoes, Mohini Dey said, “The independent music scene in India is exploding and there is talent emerging from all corners of the country. What’s important is recognizing talented artists, and providing them with the right guidance and platform in their journey to the top. Ape Echoes is a breakthrough band who, for the past 2 years have consistently done what truly moves them and stayed true to their sound. It has been a fantastic experience to be a part of the creation of “Hold Tight”. It’s great that platforms like Bacardí House Party Sessions are encouraging and promoting fresh and exciting talent like Ape Echoes.”

“Hold Tight” will be followed by the third Bacardí House Party Sessions track by the artist ‘Pull’, mentored by Amit Trivedi.

Orange Festival of Music and Adventure 2018 ended on a high note with a grand performance by Iron Maidens, in Dambuk. OFAM, the unique orange themed Adventure and Music festival held in Arunachal Pradesh, grew even bigger in 2018 with more than 10000+ tourists and 30000+ locals attending the festival. As compared to last year 18 bands, this year the festival was attended by 28 music bands, including international bands like Thundermother from Sweden and others.
The event was inaugurated by Honourable CM of Arunachal Pradesh, Mr. Pema Khandu where he mentioned that the festivals like OFAM, which he initiated during his tenure as tourism minister, aim to spur the growth in tourism in Arunachal Pradesh. He also mentioned that Tourism would be a game changer for Arunachal Pradesh and help the state to improve connectivity in the region. This would also benefit the locals economically.
The idea behind the festival as mentioned by Mr. Abu Tayeng, OFAM director, earlier is to bring in people from all over the world to explore the wild natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh and experience the local way of life and culture in an untouched destination. OFAM has been growing bigger year on year and becoming a huge attraction for tourists planning to visit Arunachal Pradesh. He also hoped that the next edition will be bigger and grander than this year both in terms of visitors and participants. He also said, “We plan to take OFAM on an international stage and create a buzz on national circuit as well. The festival attracts visitors not only from India but internationally as well, which showcase its potential. We hope that upcoming editions will receive more attention and fame, thus ensuring a bigger tourists’ inflow in the region and better employment opportunities for locals.”
Apart from enthralling music by 28 bands which performed on stage, crowds also witnessed the thrilling JKtyres 4X4 Fury, enjoyed adventure sports which were organized in collaboration with NIMAS and the natural beauty of Dambuk. This year 25 Indian bands from all over the country and 3 International Bands from different parts of the globe made the crowds groove to their music. From local favourites Trance effect to Thundermother from Sweden, bands gave absorbing performances which kept the energy levels high through the evening. Rains battered the venue on occasion, but the crowds braved the weather conditions and made their presence felt. Lead vocalist of the Iron Maidens, Kirsten Rosenberg said, “I was surprised to see the enthusiasm with which the crowd turned up even after bad weather conditions. She mentioned that hers is a tribute band and was pleasantly surprised to see how many music lovers came together celebrated in this beautiful location. Iron Maidens, she said, surely look forward to visiting again.”
Festival Proceedings had begun with cultural events and the flag-off of the JKtyres 4X4 fury rally event. Local favourites the Manabhum Off-roaders Club of Arunachal won the title with a slender lead of 5 points. They hung on to the lead which they gained on the first stage. Last year’s defending champs Gerrari Off-roaders finished in a close 2nd.
The scenic lower Dibung valley was a perfect setting for adventure lovers to get their fill of adrenaline in this year’s OFAM. With mighty rivers like the Dirang and Brahmaputra flowing in close vicinity and rainforests covered east Himalayan ranges surrounding the vast orange orchards, adventure activities like zip lining, para gliding, para sailing, white water rafting, dirt cycling, speed boating and elephant rides were the popularly enjoyed activities at this festival. OFAM organisers collaborated with NIMAS, National institute for Mountaineering and Adventure Sports a MoD run institute, for arranging the activities on offer. Many adventure lovers enjoyed the para motoring which took flyers on a 20 min flight over the entire Lower Dibung valley. The landing among the orange trees excited many thrill seekers and nature lovers alike. Zip lines passed over the orange orchards which gave participants birds eye view of the trees below. Rapids of grade 1+K3 and 2+K2 on a 10 km long route kept the adrenaline pumping for the participants of white water rafting. These rapids flung many rafts across the river, but teams learnt how to manoeuvre this force of nature with sound guidance from the NIMAS instructors. Elephant rides gave a leisurely vibe when compared to other adventure activities.
With so many adventure activities, hungry crowds were treated to delicious food and fine music on the day and night stages. Food stalls by the locals served up local delicacies like orange pudding, Rice wine, variety of local beers, egg with ginger, farm fresh orange juice and all time favourite Momos to name a few. This unique one-of-a-kind orange themed festival also hosted an orange eating competition!! Stalls which showcased kiwi fruit and pineapple were also present in the OFAM.

A happy coincidence for 2019 is not only will it be tenth edition of Con Brio but it will also be the two-hundredth birth centenary of Clara Schumann, the wife of Robert Schumann who was the central figure of our inaugural Con Brio back in 2010, titled Schumania. So, we are pleased to have another round of Schumania, with the focus this time being on Clara and not Robert.
Clara is undoubtedly one of the most famous women composers in history and we will celebrate her two-hundredth birth centenary by programming the festival to include exclusively the works of women composers, many of them unduly underperformed. The competition will do the same.
Date:1st - 4th Aug, 2019.
Venue: NCPA's Experimental Theatre, Mumbai

In America’s Musical Journey, Aloe Blacc traces the footsteps of Louis Armstrong from New Orleans to Chicago and beyond, where his impact on jazz and other American musical forms was profound. Born at the turn of the century in New Orleans, to parents who were slaves, Louis Armstrong learned to play the cornet in a boy’s home. Those of you who have been around from the 1960's through the 1990's will remember the vibrant live music scene in almost every starred hotel in India. Those were the days when you walked into a nightclub like 'Rendezvous' at The Taj Mahal hotel and 'Supper Club' at the Oberoi Sheraton in Mumbai to see curtains going up on a band that was the prime focus of these outlets. Every seat in these restaurants allowed an unobstructed view of the band that performed every night on resident contracts. Today all this has disappeared thanks to some ridiculously high entertainment taxes on live music. Today, non off these hotels have complete bands playing save for a few that feature small duos or solo singers. The Lodhi in New Delhi, recently listed among the world's best hotels, decided to step in and rewind to the good old days. They got Goa's premier jazz quartet 'Jazz Junction' to move to Delhi on a resident contract and the decision has paid off in terms of footfalls generated by the band. Jazz Junction featuring singer Daniella Rodrigues, pianist Tony Dias,
bassist Colin D'Cruz and drummer Angelo Colasco began playing at The Lodhi in June 2018. Four months into the contract the band generated a sizeable following, with quite a few high profile guests choosing to celebrate their special occasion at the Elan bar where the band performs. Against all odds the rewind option proved to be a huge success and hopefully other properties around the country takes the cue to trigger a whole new revival of live music.
