Asia’s biggest electronic dance music festival, Sunburn will kick-start its 13th edition with Sunburn Arena with the multi-platinum selling, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated recording artist Wiz Khalifa in the month of September 2019. The season’s first Sunburn Arenas with Wiz Khalifa will be hosted on 14th September in Delhi NCR at Unitech Golf & Country Club followed by Mumbai on 15th September at Jio Garden
While Raja Kumari, Ananya Birla and THEMXXNLIGHT will be opening for the hip-hop legend in New Delhi; Emiway Bantai, Ananya Birla, Monica Dogra, THEMXXNLIGHT, Ishani x Bobkat will take to the stage in Mumbai. India's most viewed rapper on Youtube Emiway Bantai states, “The feeling is incredible. Wiz is one of my favourite artists and is an inspiration. To share the stage with him will be awesome. I’m especially happy that underground hip hop is going upper mainstream.”
Raja Kumari who has worked with the likes of Iggy Azalea, Fifth Harmony, Gwen Stefani, Timbaland, Afrojack states, “Wiz Khalifa is synonymous with hip hop. He has created anthems for so many years that have influenced culture in so many ways! I’m so honored to welcome him back to India and I’m excited to perform on the same stage. Delhi get ready!”
Monica Dogra who recently represented India at the Europe Music Awards states, “Wiz is a youth Icon and pioneer in hiphop. It feels great to have been invited to share the stage with him for the second time.”
India’s first multi-platinum selling artist in the English category Ananya Birla states, “I have always loved Wiz’s music and I’m extremely excited and honoured to be able to open for him! Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, released his debut album in 2006. However, his shot to fame was his 2010 single ‘Black and Yellow’, which went to number one on the Billboard Top 100. The Grammy-winning artist’s other hits include ‘Remember You’, ‘We Dem Boyz’ and ‘See You Again’. His last album Rolling Papers 2 was released in 2018 and featured Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Gucci Mane, Party Next Door, Snoop Dogg, Swae Lee and Ty Dolla Sign as guest artists.

Those of you who have been around from the 1960's through the 1990's will remember the vibrant live music scene in almost every starred hotel in India. Those were the days when you walked into a nightclub like 'Rendezvous' at The Taj Mahal hotel and 'Supper Club' at the Oberoi Sheraton in Mumbai to see curtains going up on a band that was the prime focus of these outlets. Every seat in these restaurants allowed an unobstructed view of the band that performed every night on resident contracts. Today all this has disappeared thanks to some ridiculously high entertainment taxes on live music. Today, non off these hotels have complete bands playing save for a few that feature small duos or solo singers. The Lodhi in New Delhi, recently listed among the world's best hotels, decided to step in and rewind to the good old days. They got Goa's premier jazz quartet 'Jazz Junction' to move to Delhi on a resident contract and the decision has paid off in terms of footfalls generated by the band. Jazz Junction featuring singer Daniella Rodrigues, pianist Tony Dias,
bassist Colin D'Cruz and drummer Angelo Colasco began playing at The Lodhi in June 2018. Four months into the contract the band generated a sizeable following, with quite a few high profile guests choosing to celebrate their special occasion at the Elan bar where the band performs. Against all odds the rewind option proved to be a huge success and hopefully other properties around the country takes the cue to trigger a whole new revival of live music.
